SWEET WON TONS WITH PINEAPPLE COMPOTE |
A recipe serves
4 persons
5 Won Tons each
For the Won Tons
20 pieces Won Ton wrappers
140g Dates, pitted and chopped
50g Almond flakes/roasted
½ Teaspoon Cinnamon Powder
1.5 Bananas finely chopped
Corn oil for deep frying
Icing sugar, to dust
For the Pineapple Compote
250g Pineapple
80g Brown sugar
1 Vanilla pod
For the pineapple
compote; peal the pineapple, slice into pieces, place into
a cooking pot with the sugar and sliced open vanilla pod and
bring to boil with ½ litre water.
For the Won Tons;
mix together dates, bananas, almonds and cinnamon, place 2
teaspoon of the fruit mixture into the centre of the won ton
wrapper, brush the edges lightly with water.
Place another
won ton wrapper on top at an angle so that the wrapper makes
a star shape.
Place the won tons on a tray lined with baking paper next
to each other; don’t stick the following won tons on
top of each other.
Heat the oil in a large
pan or deep fat fryer; add the won tons in small batches and
fry them golden brown and crispy.
Drain them on
a paper towels dust the won tons lightly with icing sugar
before serving warm with the chilled pineapple compote on
the side.
